A summary of some of our Flying Garden blog posts.

////

We are writing a blog about our ongoing performative artwork “Flying garden”. Here’s a brief abstract:

A four-member artist group “Lentävä Puutarha” is working in different sites around Satakunta region, and creating an artwork connected to houseplants and mobility. The group collaborates with the Pori Art Museum (Korsi commission), and the work build on artist Laura Lilja’s Cargo Colours exhibition.

The group invites people to trust their houseplants to their care and assembles them into installations presented in accessible public spaces. The structures are made from recycled cargo straps, highlighting the plants’ journey and marine connections. During the project, a group member will cycle with a houseplant from Finland to Denmark, providing the plant an international outdoor experience.

The group includes artists working with performance, plant-chemical film, and textiles: Jönssi Heikkinen, Uljas Kaitala, Victoria Torboli, and Eero Yli-Vakkuri.

I will be documenting The Flying gardens onto super 8 film and processing the films with plant-based chemistry. YOu can follow the process here. The shortfilm will be premiered as an extended cinema-performance at Sensommar Filmfestival in August 31st.
