A visit to the Lost Farm Festival
////
On my journey to Lystbækgaard, a sheepfarm where my partner Viki works as a shepherd I visited a lovely festival just couple hours north from Copenhagen.

I was assisting and documenting a performance by an Danish artist and shepherd Lise Hovesen (video will be published soon). To briefly sum up the process, first people danced on a huge sheet of wool (from Lystbaekgaard), that we felted on Viki’s guidance. With the felted sheet, we built a shepherds hut, kind of a yurt, in a nice spot distanced from the main festival area. The following days we were giving people a change to come to the peace and silence that was created by the scents and haptics of the wool, local herbs and the ambience of a the wind, bees, the sheep and sea nearby. In a way the massaging act followed from the people to wool and then back to the people, while the wool worked as a shelter.

The festival itself was happening now for the first time. The atmosphere and the milieu was homely and the curation was really interesting, varying from raging electronic sounds and screams to soft jazz in the garden. There were also all kinds of performances and workshops that I mostly missed though.. But overall it was a great and super cozy festival and filled with lovely people! I really hope to come back next year!

Here’s couple fun moments through my iphone:

Oh and ps. on of the memorable moments was when we were cooling down in front of the sauna and a orchestra of crickets composed a beautiful song with the bass lines echoing from the nearest stage.
